Presents:   Iain Wilson's Logo
Iain is another member from "Down Under". He runs a Web site called "Under the Couch" (UTC).

Under The Couch is committed to bringing you different and varied ways to expand your gaming experience, through converted miniatures, ideas and inspiration, and easy access to some of those miniatures and parts that otherwise could be a bit of a bother to find.

Iain has been collecting and painting miniatures for more than 15 years (since the early ’90′s), and wargaming for a little over 10. His tendency to get bored easily prompted him to start converting miniatures shortly after unpacking the miniatures from his 2nd Edition Warhammer 40000 set and realising that they were all in the exact same pose.

Ian's handle on the forum is "insaniak".

I have to confess, I started this miniature before I had completely read the contest rules, so there's no exciting conversion or posing work here... I wanted to paint the miniature as is, and so I kept it pretty simple. I also wanted something a little different to the usual brown or black Ratman that seems to dominate the tabletop...
The base is the slotta base he came with, with the tiling and a sewer drain sculpted on with green stuff.
Painting was a little all over the place, as I for some inexplicable reason decided to get all experimental... I undercoated white (which I very, very rarely do) then painted his armour and pants with GW's Dark Angels Green. From there, both armour and pants received a bit of a cocktail of Catachan Green, Goblin Green and white, and the pants finished with a wash of ancient Citadel Waaagh! Green. click for a bigger image

Metal bits and scratches on the armour were re-undercoated black, and then treated with Boltgun Metal and Mithril Silver. Then his ears, nose and tail were painted with another ancient Citadel pot of Titillating Pink and the base painted with Vallejo Light Grey before the whole model was washed with GW's Devlan Mud.
I then went back over the fur with a layer of white, painted on in thin streaks to accentuate the fur texture, gave the armour a bit of an extra highlight with the green/white mix, highlighted the wrappings and straps with bone, touched up the metal with a silver highlight, and finally painted in his eyes with Bloody Red, with a bit of a highlight of red/white mixed to bring them to life.

So here 'tis:
