Here are my Contest Entry photos for the Verminion with Sword and Shield Contest. The overall feel of the scene is representing the Verminion growling his disgust at the enemy and daring him to fight close in, thus the raised Sword (which by the way is the only NMM on the Mini).
This was one cool mini to paint. I had an Idea of what I wanted to do prior to receiving him in the mail, but I decided to change it up some. Based on how the heads would need positioning on the torso, I decided to add some green stuff to tilt the head as if looking up slightly. I really liked the helmeted version for this particular scene so I went with that. Originally I was going to use the other head. The base is made from evergreen bark painted to look somewhat like rough stone ground. I then added the grassy material. I drilled a hole in the shield and hand made an arrow from tube styrene and green stuff. click for a bigger image
click for a bigger image I inserted the arrow in the whole in the shield prior to painting the mini. The colors used in painting the mini - On the skin and fur I used Reaper Master Series Dark Elf Skin Triad (Violet Greys), I used Tamiya's Copper for the armor and shield, Some old Partha Paints Silver for the Helmet, Armor Rivets, and the center of the shield, His pants and crest were painted in RMS Fire Red and Clear Red. Shading on the copper and silver was done with RMS Clear Blue.
Highlights on the pants and crest were done with adding some RMS fire orange and then some P3 Cygnus Yellow for lighter tones. Teeth and claws were done with RMS Creamy Ivory. I used RMS linen white for the wrappings on arms and legs, then shaded that with RMS earth Brown (mid-shade) and P3 Umbril Umber (dark-shade). The sun design on the shield was done free hand in RMS pure black. The top of the crest was done in RMS Dark Elf Shadow. click for a bigger image
