Paul Wellner's Verminion Entry
Out with the Old - In with the Gladius
Paul's entry is very unique. He used one of our original Verminion in his composition. Unfortunately, our poor classic Verminion has met his match as the new Verminion runs him through. Ouch! -- BKG Actual
To do this figure set I started with two of the Old Verminion from Black Knight Games. I took the head from the pole armed one that had a pained expression on this face and the body from the sword wielding
one. I then drilled and carved a hole in the front left side of the figure so the gladius of the New Verminion would fit in for the thrust.

I now turned my attention to the New Roman styled Verminion. Knowing that I wanted an action pose for this model, I first snipped the tail free from the leg, then the right foot free
from the slot-a-base stand. Pulling the tail out to the back and moving the right leg forward gave the figure a leaning in look that I wanted. I used the helmeted head because in general I
personally prefer it, and then placed the shield arm in a high blocking position that I felt would look like a proper block verses the sword of the other model. The hardest part was playing
with the sword arm to make it match up with the hole I placed in the other figure. Each figure is based separately with a magnet under the base so I can place them either together on a
diorama base or singly for gaming.

These figures were painted with Vallejo paints using a white primer undercoating. Painting was done using washes and dry brushing combination. I chose to use the Black Rat for the
Roman styled one because that is the theme color I plan on for my Verminion; I used the Brown or Norwegian Rat for the old just for contrast.

I guess that is basically it if you have questions I am more than happy to try and answer them I do not go out on the web very often but Bill (BKG Actual) does know how to get in touch with me if there is a
question I have not responded to.
